Our Story

Share a good pot of tea, nurture friendship for a lifetime

Being avid mountain lovers we used to trek the Himalayas a lot. And being innate in the region of Bengal, we have a deep-rooted connection with Darjeeling. We appreciate having the Orophile syndrome which also helped us develop a serious passion for an age-old tradition of drinking the finest tea ever found. We romanticize Camellia Sinensis. So, just out of adventure, passion, and love Budding Leaves came into existence. The idea of spreading compassion for the finest tea to the rest of the enthusiasts.

We source single-leaf tea directly from the tea plantation in India and brew them at our studio and make them ready for your customers. We already have a good response from our consumers. This positive feedback made us more confident about our initial goal of serving the best as we are definite that it has great potential for the consumer market.

The conventional supply of tea is impaired by the involvement of the middle man like an auctioneer, wholesalers, exporters, importers, retailers, and suppliers. Thus traditional methods of marketing and distribution mean that the tea takes an average of 6-9 months to reach a customer after a fresh leaf tip has been plucked. This impacts the freshness and quality of the tea leaves. On top of that the middleman compiles the tea for their profit betraying customers' trust in originality. Customers don't have a clear view regarding certain types and flavors of teas available in different regions. Thus giving the upper hand to the middleman to easily manipulate the distribution process for their gain.

Being tea lovers we don't want others to distrust the product and should have a clear view of what they consume. We want to build a direct-to-customer (D2C) and subscription model venture omitting all these middle involvement. This meant sourcing teas directly from the organic tea estates across Darjeeling within days of harvest. The tea leaves are tested for quality and flavor and then blends are prepared with precision without compromising any effort. From here on they are packed and shipped. Freshness is the key. This process makes the tea reach customers superfast with superior quality tea also reducing the cost as compared with the traditional way of processing. This is a competitive advantage for us. We think we will be able to put together a robust business model to tap into this emerging premium segment. We give our utmost importance to the farmers who grow organic and natural ingredients for us. We like to work closely with these farmers to understand the procedure and serve the best to our valued customers. We only work with organically certified gardens and we maintain the quality control of the leaf tested from NABL certified lab. This information is also stored in clouds which the consumers have access to go through at any point in time for transparency. To us, it is an ethical, sustainable, and socially responsible company. We must stick to carbon and plastic neutral as a brand. As a startup, we will discard the easy means of generating fast profits but work hard and responsibly enough to maintain the genuine quality of the product which in turn helps the company to grow automatically by helping the customers trust us and our products. We believe that our direct-to-customer business model will help generate enough profit to help the farmers as well. Leading them to have more profit and allowing them to have a better life, health insurance, and education. We would also prefer our consumers to know about this social cause through the website and other promotions. They should be aware of the real people who are working hard to give us the best.
